Project description
‘Wāw’ is an installation that integrates ceramic elements sculpted in the form of stylized human silhouettes. These silhouettes are connected to one another by natural threads, combined with fragments of burlap canvas, forming a complex and organic grid.
The interconnection between these clay silhouettes, linked by natural fibers, evokes our own interdependence as human beings. But this bond extends beyond the merely human dimension, broadening our gaze to encompass all living things and reminding us that we are part of a larger whole. It gives rise to repeated echoes, subtle rhythms created by the silhouettes and burlap fragments, infusing the work with a vibrant and dynamic dimension. This symbolic network includes not only plants and animals, but also fundamental elements like crystals, earth, fire, and water…
The title ‘و’ (wāw, which means “and” in Arabic) reflects this idea of interconnectivity. This symbol is widely used in Sufi circles, where it embodies the union and connection between all things.
This installation seeks to visually and poetically translate the idea that we co-construct a shared world, in which every element contributes to a fragile and essential balance.
The work invites the viewer to meditate on their role not as an isolated being, but as a link integrated into a complex ecosystem where every interaction matters.
